Interviewee: Reuben Wanjala – Director, Resource Centre, Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA)
“Technology is no longer a department. It’s how we think, operate, and lead.”
That’s how Reuben Wanjala, the Director of the Resource Centre at KEPROBA, opened our conversation. Behind the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency’s polished global presence lies a story of digital transformation — driven by a strategic shift to Microsoft 365 and the guidance of Cloud Productivity Solutions Limited.
Â
“We needed a solution for service ANYWHERE.”
Reuben painted a clear picture of their earlier challenges.
“By mandate, our staff have to be in the field — within and beyond borders,” he explained. “We needed a solution that allowed access to email, files, and meetings from anywhere, anytime — so long as there was internet.”
Microsoft 365 delivered on this need — and Cloud Productivity Solutions Limited (CPS) was the enabler who made it happen. Processes that had previously been locked to the office — like managing trade statistics through MS Access — migrated to dynamic Power BI dashboards. Information became accessible to both staff and stakeholders without constant ICT intervention.
Â
“Big time improvement. Teams changed the game.”
On internal collaboration, Reuben was emphatic.
“Big time,” he smiled. “Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive made it possible for staff across different departments to work on documents together in real-time. No more endless email trails.”
He credited CPS for implementing tools that changed how meetings and project work happen — enabling global conversations without the need for flights or complex scheduling.
Â
“The biggest vulnerability in cybersecurity is people.”
No digital journey is complete without addressing security.
“People are dynamic. They make errors — sometimes unintentionally. That’s where security gets compromised,” Reuben said.
Thanks to cybersecurity training conducted in partnership with Cloud Productivity Solutions, KEPROBA staff became more aware of their digital responsibilities. “Cases of unsolicited emails dropped significantly. People began to see themselves as security agents. That training was a game-changer,” he reflected.
Yet, he made it clear — cybersecurity isn’t a destination. “We need CPS to continue walking this journey with us — technical and non-technical staff alike.”
Â
“We’re moving everything to the cloud. It’s a decisive direction.”
On what lies ahead, Reuben was crystal clear.
“We want to move all our services to the cloud — and we’ve chosen to walk that path with CPS by our side.”
He highlighted how their early digital investments enabled staff to adapt quickly during the pandemic, without disruption. “That proved we were on the right path. Now we’re doubling down.”
A Final Word
KEPROBA’s story isn’t just about technology. It’s about mindset, readiness, and the power of strategic partnerships. With Cloud Productivity Solutions Limited as a trusted enabler, KEPROBA is not only optimizing how it works — it’s redefining how Kenya engages with the global market.
“We’re ready for the future,” Reuben concluded with conviction. “And the world is our marketplace.”
